Unsubscribe & compliance

Outgoing mail automatically gets what the bulk-sender rules from Gmail and Yahoo require:

  • List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click headers (RFC 8058 one-click unsubscribe).
  • A visible unsubscribe footer link, appended to the HTML and text bodies, skipped when your content already links the unsubscribe URL, so you can place your own.

Unsubscribe links are signed and bound to the recipient, and support both the one-click POST and a human confirmation page on GET.

Opt-outs are stream-scoped: an unsubscribe adds a reason: "unsubscribe" suppression, which blocks broadcast-stream mail only. Someone who opts out of your newsletter still receives password resets and receipts on your transactional stream.

If the send was tagged with a topic_id, the unsubscribe is scoped tighter still: it unsubscribes the contact from that topic instead of all marketing mail.
